Ceramic Paper
Thin, flexible ceramic fibre paper for gaskets, seals and insulation in tight spaces where heat is high.
Product Information
Product Details
Ceramic fibre paper is a thin, light sheet made from ceramic fibres, like paper made from heat-resistant wool. It can be cut with scissors, bent around pipes and pressed into narrow gaps, so it is used where boards and blankets are too thick or too stiff.
Main features
- Thin and flexible. Common thicknesses are from 1 to 6 mm.
- High temperature. Common grades are rated around 1,260 °C.
- Low heat loss. A thin layer still blocks a lot of heat.
- Easy to cut and shape. Punch it into gaskets or cut it into strips on site.
- Good electrical insulation and low heat storage.
Where it is used
- Gaskets and seals for furnace doors, burners and flanges
- Lining under other insulation to fill small gaps
- Heat shields for sensors, wires and electronic parts
- Separating sheets in metal casting and glass forming, so hot parts do not stick
- Insulation in heaters, ovens and household appliances
- Expansion joints in refractory linings
Tips for use
- The paper has a small amount of binder, which burns off on first heating. A little smoke is normal.
- After the binder burns off, the paper becomes weaker, so it works best where it is held in place.
- Wear gloves and a dust mask when cutting, and avoid making dust.
How to order
Ceramic paper is usually sold in rolls. Tell us the thickness, the width and length you need, and the working temperature. We can also supply gaskets cut to your size.
