Fireproof insulation is insulation that does not burn and keeps working during a fire. Ceramic fibre products are a good choice for this: they do not burn, do not melt at fire temperatures and keep heat from passing through. They are used to protect people, buildings and equipment.

What it does

Does not burn. Ceramic fibre adds no fuel to a fire.
Slows heat transfer. It keeps the cold side of a wall, door or duct cooler for longer.
Light. It adds little weight to steel structures, ships or vehicles.
Easy to fit. Blankets wrap around beams and ducts, and boards cut to fit openings.

A fire-rated system is more than the insulation. The rating depends on the full design: the thickness, how it is fixed, the other materials used and the tests the system has passed.
