Product Details

Technical ceramics (also called industrial or advanced ceramics) are hard, heat-resistant materials made for machines and furnaces, not for tableware. They keep working where metal parts would melt, rust, wear out or conduct electricity when they should not.

Parts we supply

  • Furnace tubes and protection tubes for temperature sensors and heating elements
  • Element holders, spacers and insulators that keep heating elements in place
  • Plates, setters and saggars that hold products while they are fired
  • Crucibles and boats for melting and lab work
  • Wear parts such as nozzles, liners and guides
  • Custom parts made to your drawing

Common materials

MaterialStrong points
AluminaHard, heat-resistant, good electrical insulator; the most widely used
ZirconiaVery tough and strong, resists cracking
Silicon carbideVery hard, conducts heat well, handles high temperatures
Mullite and cordieriteLow thermal expansion, good against thermal shock
SteatiteLow-cost electrical insulator for heaters and electrical parts

Why choose ceramic parts

  • Heat. Many technical ceramics work well above 1,000 °C.
  • Wear. They are much harder than steel, so they last longer against sand, powder or fast-moving material.
  • Chemicals. They do not rust and resist most acids and alkalis.
  • Electrical insulation. Alumina and steatite keep current where it belongs, even when hot.

Where they are used

  • Electric furnaces and kilns
  • Foundries and metal processing
  • Chemical and laboratory equipment
  • Electrical heaters and insulators

How to order

Send us a drawing or a photo with sizes, the material you use now (if you know it), the working temperature and what the part has to do. For a replacement part, a sample is best. We will tell you which material fits and give you a price.
